Best Apple Picking Around Chicago

Instead of wallowing in the passing of summer, rejoice in all of the activities fall has to offer–and the fact that you won’t have to break a sweat. Whether for an outing with friends, a departure from the average date, and or family bonding, apple picking is always a great choice.

Just 37 miles from downtown Chicago, this orchard not only has no admission fees, but also boasts free parking. Strollers and wagons are permitted, but Heinz is geared towards adults and couples, and there are a variety of different types of apples to choose from. The fields are absolutely gorgeous—stay for the sunset!

For a full orchard experience complete with a corn maze, petting zoo, giant swing, and cow train, All Seasons is your spot. If you come on the weekends, the kids will be treated to a magic show and even pig races. It’s a rare place to pick Honeycrisp apples and you’ll love the desserts.

You can find All Seasons Orchard at 14510 IL-176.

While you can only head out to this orchard on weekends, there’s a huge variety of apples and an out-of-this-world bakery. The season extends into November so you have plenty of time to visit, and we love that the trees are low enough so that you, and even the little ones, can pick apples on your own.

You can find Ziegler’s Orchard at 32363 N Bacon Rd.
